Exercise, in general, is an important part of warding off life-threatening diseases and making your day to day life easier. However, did you know that different types of exercise target different areas of the body and have specific health benefits? Boxing is one of the best types of exercise because it targets your WHOLE body and your mind. Express.co.uk chatted to Retrofit London’s martial arts and boxing instructor Stuart, to find out how boxing could be the best form of exercise for you.

Retrofit instructor Stuart, who has won 20 British/British Open/UK titles, three European Championships and four World Championships in Taekwondo and Kickboxing pointed out that boxing is a “whole body workout”, so you don’t need to spend hours in the gym flexing different muscles.

Stuart said: “In boxing, you work out your whole body, learn new skills, learn to defend yourself, improve your overall fitness and have fun!”

The health benefits of boxing are astounding – it’s something that can help a range of different people.

Stuart said: “Boxing can help anyone to get fit, lose weight and improve their health.

“It is a versatile workout and most health issues/limitations can be worked around.”

“Boxing can be done at home but without proper in-person support you might not get the most out of it.”

Boxing doesn’t just improve your physical health, it’s one of the forms of exercise that REALLY helps your mental health.

The mental health benefits of boxing are numerous, according to Stuart.

He said: “Stress release, easing anxiety and improved confidence are just a few of the mental health benefits boxing can help with.”
